Changing Your Life

Life Coach London Nice ParisCreativity session work

If you have felt the urge to be creative, it is because something in your character has shifted, has become free-er, and is releasing that most basic human urge. It's most likely that what was holding you back was fear, that low-level and often unseen enemy that keeps us from so much that is rewarding and fun.

But by even reading this page, you're still dealing with some blocks or unknowns, and it could well be that same nasty low-level fear that's doing it. One of my first approaches to creativity is to dig deep and find out what fears may be lurking, haul them out into the cold light of day and work with you to deal with them.

Once you're truly free of fears, the next levels to get through are self-esteem, confidence, assurance and spirit of adventure. Or gaining the ability to learn, to pace yourself, to think clearly. Or, in the case of the tortured soul (and so many artists are!) to hold back enough of the past trauma to give you space to work and recruit the rest of the trauma to direct into your work. This is the most exciting ways of being creative, but it can be a real tight-rope to walk, risky, but rewarding, hard, but exhilarating.

This work may be as therapy and coaching formalising the approach above, or it may be done as a very practical approach to being creative and hitting the various problems as they arise, 'on the job'. Much more akin to inspirational work, when done this way, the focus is on what you do or what you achieve, rather than you yourself.

Being creative should be fun, should be rewarding, should be in itself inspiring. It's worth reaching for, worth some hard work, worth making a commitment. Be prepared to have fun!!
